Profile

Designing Antenna’s was my biggest interesting early on during the process of learning Amateur Radio! From that point my world changed as I learned more about Emergency Management, First Responder techniques using ham radio, working NTS traffic during emergencies, and teaching emergency preparedness as often as I can. I’m also excited to be a qualified FEMA CERT coach and enjoy teaching others how to prepare and get involved during emergencies.

Here is a little more about me and what my interest and activities include: I have been an active amateur radio operator since the early 90’s and have worked with many of you in the surrounding counties during disaster events and volunteering during public service events. Multiple disasters have been managed by our team of experienced hams in central Alabama and I’m confident there are many others in all 67 counties of Alabama that work hard during every emergency event to help protect others and provide timely information to those in need. I currently serve as the Logistics Chair for the American Diabetes Association for the Tour deCure annual bike ride.

I have worked at UAB Hospital for 33 years and currently serve as the Director of Emergency Management and Director of Facilities for UAB Medicine. My professional career has given me an opportunity to be involved in front line emergency preparedness and emergency operations for a long time. I also serve as President of HCARC.org which is a amateur radio club that focuses on building an effective healthcare network utilizing ham radio on a regular basis. Feel free to contact me through Facebook or email if you would like to chat with me.
