Hello Alabama Section, EXCITING NEWS FOR THE 2016 OUTSTANDING YOUTH HAM AWARD.

Here is the official announcement from Kaitlyn Cole, KS3P for the 2016 Youth winner.

As the appointed ARRL Alabama Section Youth Coordinator, one of my great pleasures was bringing back the ARRL Alabama Section Outstanding Youth Ham Award. This award, which is presented at the Huntsville

Hamfest, puts the Amateur Radio Youth on the map and recognizes the great work that is being done in our home state of Alabama.  Amateur Radio is one of the few activities that a youth can take part in, and as long as the youth has a license, ambition, and a willingness to serve; the youth Amateur Radio Operator will be welcomed and treated as an equal to adults.  Amateur Radio has presented me the opportunity to speak in public forums, work DX from Costa Rica, build electronic kits, and serve the public in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

The ARRL Alabama Section Outstanding Youth Committee has chosen Mark S. Roberson, KM4DEF, of Birmingham, Alabama as the winner of the 2016 ARRL Alabama Section Outstanding Youth Ham Award.  This award will be presented at the 2016 Huntsville Hamfest on Saturday, August 20, 2016 by Kaitlyn Cole KS3P, ARRL Alabama Section Youth Coordinator and JVann Martin W4JVM, ARRL Alabama Section Manager.

Please join me in congratulating Mark KM4DEF for his great work as a youth Amateur Radio Operator.

73,

Kaitlyn Cole KS3P, Alabama Section Youth Coordinator
